There are many ways to hold your wedding reception, with a vast range of venues to choose from. These include reception centers, restaurants, sporting clubs, marquees, hotels, motels, halls, private homes, and gardens. Consider these criteria and questions when selecting your venue:

* Is there a contract for the package and what does it include?

* The number of guests expected.
* Your budget.
* The venue or caterer's menu suitability.
* Are table linens supplied and is there a choice of colors?
* Are all other tables (cake, gift, entertainment,etc.) covered and skirted?
* The service standards you require.
* Is the venue licensed to serve alcohol? Can you bring your own?
* The cost of drinks and variety if supplied by the venue.
* What exactly do you get for your money.
* The food quality.
* Do they have ample parking?
* Are they handicap accessible?
* Is entry to the building and room easily accessible for your outside vendors?
* Is there a stage for your entertainment or will there be room to set up on the floor by the dancing area?
These are just some of the important things to go over with the venue manager or owner before you make your decision. I'm sure you will have other items specific to your need and desires. Do not hesitate to ask if they can accommodate your wishes. Remember, you are the customer and are paying them for their service. If you do ask for something unusual that they normally don't provide, expect to pay more for it. Just don't be unreasonable in your requests and don't be demanding. Once you make your decision, accept the fact that they are professionals and do this on a regular basis. Rely on their expertise and suggestions.
